Original Comment on End of
this Page. Januar 2010. Herr Ernie Boren hat mich angeschrieben und
berichtete mir, dass er von 1962 bis 1964 mit der 421. Hubschrauber

Original Comment of Ernie Boren:
Email 1: Hi Billy, Billy, I’m afraid that after looking for photos, while I did find some
I do not recall where all were taken. I was with the 421st Medical
Company Air Ambulance at Nellingen for a few months as that was Headquarters Company and 1st Platoon.
Being that I was the only Ground Controlled Approach Radar repairman in the
whole company and we did not have an airfield with radar at Nellingen, I spent time at the
2nd platoon in Illesheim and ended my tour at the 3rd platoon
in Grafenwoehr. One picture from left to right (Ernie Boren, John Naan & Frank
Patrick all with the 421st) was taken (I believe ) high on a
hill at a restaurant in perhaps Esslingen in 1962. Probably not very interesting, but of course they are to me. Sorry I
did not have more to offer. Regards, Ernie Boren 421st Medical
Company Air Ambulance 1962 – 1964
January 2010 Email 2: Hi Billy, I was a Specialist-5th Class (spec-5) and my MOS
(Military Occupational Specialty) was 282.2 Ground Controlled Approach Radar
Repairman. I do not think they use the term MOS anymore, this was 48 years ago!! 421st Medical Company (AA) Air Ambulance did not have their own GCA Radar in
Nellingen so I was lent out to the other platoons (Illesheim &
Grafenwöhr) where other companies had a GCA Radar for me to work on. Regards, Ernie Boren May 2010 |
